AKUG.PT X DevOps Porto #6 : Monitoring a Kafka Cluster with Open Source

10 de Dezembro de 2020

We are pleased to announce our AKUG.PT #6 community event dedicated to Monitoring an Apache Kafka cluster using Open Source solutions, organized with the DevOps Porto community!

The ability to capture and create value from data in near-real-time is a key capability for players. Thus, streaming and data processing have emerged to support this requirement, becoming a central element within company architecture. Consequently, securing the platform state with monitoring, observability and alerting is necessary. But how can you implement it keeping more flexibility with open source solutions?

Taiolor Morais and Álvaro Bacelar will be our speakers for this event, they are both working at Itau company bringing their experience on distributed platforms and especially Kafka. A first part will align the audience on Kafka monitoring elements, to then share practices for monitoring implementation. An open Q&A session will then follow.

The event will be held online for an hour to an hour and a half. In this current context, please check the remote videoconferencing link. If any password is asked please use : akug

Your help is sharing the event will be appreciated, bring a peer!

See you there!

TALK : Monitoring a Kafka Cluster with Open Source tools (Prometheus & Grafana)
One of the main points for us to take assertive measures is to monitor our applications and infrastructure. Monitoring is a concept that cannot be missed in your daily life like SysAdmin and / or DevOps. Apache Kafka is one of the most used and consolidated systems of Publish Subscribe (PubSub). However, a Kafka cluster (like any other tool and application) without monitoring is a big risk for your business. In this talk, we will show how easy it is to set up monitoring for a Kafka cluster with Open Source tools (Prometheus and Grafana).
