What is this challenge about: 

  • Leading the architectural evolution of transformation workflows using dbt Core within a modern Azure ecosystem.
  • Defining best practices, modelling standards, and scalable transformation frameworks to unify BI and Data Engineering outputs.
  • Driving migration initiatives from legacy transformation tools to dbt Core, ensuring stability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Building and optimising ELT/ETL pipelines leveraging Azure-native technologies such as ADF, Microsoft Fabric, ADLS, and related services.
  • Implementing CI/CD-ready data models with robust testing, versioning and deployment strategies.
  • Acting as a senior technical reference, supporting teams with architectural decisions, documentation, and modernization efforts.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ Years experience in Data Engineering, with strong architectural mindset and hands-on delivery across modern data platforms;
  • Mastery of dbt Core — complex modelling, testing, environment setup, deployment and governance;
  • Solid background with Azure data services (ADF, Fabric, Databricks, ADLS, Functions or similar);
  • Strong T-SQL skills and experience with Python for data workflows;
  • Deep understanding of data modelling, ELT/ETL patterns, orchestration and pipeline optimisation;
  • Ability to bridge BI and Engineering teams, ensuring aligned transformation logic and data architecture;
  • Experience enforcing engineering standards, guiding modernization, and documenting technical decisions;
  • Fluent level of English & Portuguese (mandatory);
  • Availability to work in a hybrid model in Porto, 3x per week. 
  • Candidates must be residing already in Portugal.
