What will you be doing?
- Act as a solution/technical architect and senior developer with a strong understanding of core banking mainframe systems (COBOL) and modern environments combining vendor solutions and custom components (Java, APIs, Kafka, Webapps);
- Participate in and support the development, enhancement, and integration of applications, as well as troubleshooting, problem resolution, and performance optimization;
- Contribute to the integration of vendor solutions with existing systems, ensuring stability, scalability, and interoperability;
- Act as a bridge between infrastructure engineers and application developers, solving issues across layers (mainframe, middleware, webapps);
- Guide architecture and best practices for application integration;
- Ensure compliance with quality, performance, and security standards.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar;
- 8+ years of professional experience with Cobol in Banking/Post-trade environments;
- Significant experience in application architecture, system integration, and troubleshooting;
- Previous experience designing and/or contributing to the design and architecture of new solutions (mandatory);
- Experience in banking environments (mandatory), with exposure to both mainframe Cobol systems and modern Java platforms (preference);
- Hands-on knowledge of Kafka, APIs, web applications, and middleware integration;
- Verbal communication skills in English (B2+ mandatory);
- Hybrid work model in Lisbon, 2-3 times per week, onsite;
- Residency in Portugal – with Citizenship or Work Visa/Residence Card (eliminatory factor).
