AquaInSilico (AIS) is seeking a senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join in part-time its product development team and contribute to the evolution its digital solution, such as Upwater®, AIS's digital platform for process monitoring, simulation, optimisation, and decision support in the water, wastewater, and circular bioeconomy sectors.
About the role
This role is ideal for a professional with previous experience architecting and developing primarily secure web-based solutions, managing server infrastructure, and guiding the team delivering a scalable solution that address our clients’ needs.
Main responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain software components of the Upwater® platform;
- Architect and implement robust solutions for the integration of real-time data from industrial sensors, SCADA systems, PLCs, databases, APIs, and IoT devices;
- Develop scalable backend services and APIs to support data acquisition, processing, storage, and visualization;
- Contribute to the design and implementation of frontend applications and user interfaces;
- Support the integration of simulation, optimisation, and machine learning modules within the platform;
- Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and product features;
- Work with customers to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for digitalisation and automation;
- Be part of a growing and innovative startup environment, collaborating with process engineers to shape the next generation of digital solutions for industrial process optimisation;
- Contribute to product architecture decisions, software quality assurance, and continuous improvement of development practices;
- Contribute to the integration and deployment of AI-driven functionalities within the Upwater® platform, transforming operational data into actionable insights, predictions, and decision support tools for industrial users;
- Participate in the definition and execution of the digital product roadmap, with the opportunity to take increasing ownership and grow alongside a fast-growing deep-tech startup.
Nice to have skills
- Experience integrating industrial systems, IoT platforms, SCADA systems, or sensor networks;
- Knowledge of real-time data processing and event-driven architectures;
- Experience with cloud-native applications and containerisation technologies;
- Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning, or digital twins; • Experience developing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms;
- Understanding of industrial processes within water, wastewater, environmental, or waste treatment sectors;
- Experience gathering customer requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions;
- Interest in product management, user experience, and digital innovation;
- Experience working in startup.
Working model:
- This is a part-time subcontracting engagement for a period of 12 months, supporting the development of a digital solution as part of one of AIS projects;
- The expected level of commitment is approximately 50% of a full-time position, ideally around 20 hours per week. The exact distribution of working hours can be adjusted according to the project’s needs and the candidate’s availability;
- While the working schedule can be flexible, the candidate is expected to maintain regular availability during normal working hours to ensure effective collaboration with the AIS team and participation in relevant meetings;
- The role is primarily remote, with access to AIS Lisbon office whenever in-person collaboration is useful or required.
Remuneration will be aligned with the candidate's experience and technical skills.
